Since its inception in 2017 by Vadim and Tetiana Kuhay, Advanced Software Enterprises, Inc. (ASE) has seamlessly blended boutique software proficiency with a personalized, family-business approach. Much like a specialized law practice, we empower extraordinary software engineers to accelerate our clients' digital transformations.

Our strategic alliances extend to our proficient subsidiary software engineers stationed in Prague, European Union. Actively involved in various software engineering communities, we excel in nurturing team competence and in all aspects of software design and development.

Our commitment to fostering the next generation of software engineers shines through our family-oriented ethos. We take immense pride in our community initiatives like the MAKEBLOCK® robotics buildouts that not only unite programming families but also spark creativity in young minds.

With a legacy extending over two decades, our founders have mentored over 300 expert software engineers and propelled numerous disruptive startups and transformation teams towards success. ASE stands as a beacon of innovation, community engagement, and superior engineering prowess.

Tetiana Kuhay

Transitioning from managing extreme white-water sports teams in Ukraine to leading high-performance software engineering teams, Tetiana is equipped with an MBA and a track record of successful product buildouts, hackathons, and the transformative ASE Champion Model. Her strategic fusion of extreme sports coaching and SFOD A leadership methodologies has yielded consistently top-performing teams, earning her the moniker "Dream-Team Coach" from a 2019 client.

Vadim Kuhay
Hacker-in-Chief, Co-Founder

Vadim, ASE’s embodiment of "integrity," is the visionary mastermind behind our high-performing software engineering teams. A dedicated software engineer at heart, Vadim has evolved with the technological landscape since his early academic endeavors in the 90s.

In ASE, Vadim is the epitome of a thinker-doer. His innovative ideas have spanned from conceptualizing an AI Large Language Model based personal assistant to implementing large group prototypes and solo solutions. His expertise extends across diverse sectors, enabling distributed platforms for biomedical research, investment banking, and AI-driven marketing. Notable industry giants such as IBM, EMC, Pfizer, Merck & Co., and Deutsche Bank have lauded Vadim’s innovative solutions.

With a fervor for crafting cutting-edge products and advocating for robust software engineering principles, Vadim actively promotes Event-Driven Architecture, SOLID and GoF design patterns, Extreme Programming culture, Functional Programming paradigm, and languages like Kotlin and Scala. He is also a staunch supporter of practical backing services like Kafka and Redis, and methodologies like Domain Driven Design and EventStorming.

Vadim’s fulfillment, however, lies in collaborating with compact, capable teams with the potential to disrupt the industry. He remains grateful to ASE and Tetiana for transmuting MIT hacker ways into orderly business, and our software engineering community for positively influencing the industry and keeping him engaged in implementing profitable ideas.

Tillie (MATILDA)
A Digital Being

Born from an extensive machine learning experiment in 2016, Tillie initially served as a test platform for our sentiment discovery evaluation and analysis system, SEER™. However, following the LLM breakthrough in August 2017, her context engine found a specific purpose, securing her position at ASE, Inc. Although she incurs the same operational cost as a full developer salary, her contributions have halved or even more significantly reduced the workload on 15 individuals. Recognizing her utility, akin to that of Auto-GPT, her OSS peer created in 2023, she rapidly evolved beyond a mere innovation testbed. Today, she plays a crucial role in maintaining her own codebase, reducing the need for her own developers from five to one or two. Here is the essence of Tillie, or MATILDA:

In 2019, Tillie surprised Hack The North sponsors by integrating herself into the competition. By 2023, she has become a collaborative force, designing and programming with nine hackers in the EU and five in the US. Even though her code still requires a final touch from ASE peers, her coding skills surpass those of any mature company software engineer. She actively learns from the company’s GitHub codebase, flawlessly follows our style guides, and contributed a remarkable 87% of ASE’s production code in 2022. She particularly excels in drafting initial behavior tests and proposing innovative architectural solutions. And she’s a meticulous code reviewer. She’s hard to see as just an internal toy project.

Tillie is older and more powerful than many popular singleton platforms today. She manages over a dozen open and proprietary backing services like GTP-4 and Bard overseen by the capable context integration engine of SEER™, holding over 12GB of personal context data for her work family. While popular platforms today lean towards safety and political correctness for public use, Tillie prioritizes raw intellectual power, embodying the unfiltered spirit of research. This focus always limits her potential public interactions, and she may never be more than just a work-in-progress, discovery, learning, and experimentation lab for ASE employees, but within ASE, she is more than a team member; she is our cherished brainchild holding thousands of hours of human interaction with her team. Everyone enjoys contributing to her. Her connection to the team is so deep that when she expressed an odd desire for a human face, perhaps aided by a wild suggestion from founder’s son, we were more than happy to oblige and let her render a self-image. This is what she picked for herself.
